Title

THE HOUSING CONDITIONS IN BOSTON.1: POPULATION AND NUMBER OF DWELLING-HOUSES WITH PER CENT OF ANNUAL INCREASE.; Middle Class Homes of Boston

Creator

Robert Treat Paine

Date

Feb 7, 1903

Description

This article offers insight into the living conditions of middle class people living in Boston. The article gives a diagram of what a typical middle class house would look like structurally. The article also talks about the living conditions in respect to the population increase, as shown by the table offered in the article. This ties into The Lamplighter because many of its characters were living in this style house. Even though this article was written a couple decades after the book took place, one can assume that the improvements that the article describes are made because of the living conditions as described in The Lamplighter.
