It describes briefly of the importance of taking the church’s mission and spreading it locally and abroad. Similarly, to the Color Purple, how the character, Nettie, traveled to Africa on a religious mission. As well as the significance of Memphis, Tennessee to the Color Purple, where Shug and Celie live a liberated lifestyle in contrast to Nettie.
