Description
In this primary source, they talk about Thomas Paine, who in 1776 published a book called Common Sense which was the first book of its time to call for independence form Great Britain and to have the people rally together. And in this writing they are talking about why Thomas Paine was asked to come back to America after he left.
I felt like Thomas Paine was a good connection to Charlotte Temple because the time that Paine wrote his book Common Sense was around the time that Charlotte was in New York with Montraville who was in the British Army. Where Thomas Paine wrote this book is also important because he wrote it in New Rochelle, New York which is very close to where Charlotte was living.
