Description
It is a map of London from 1790 by Robert Sayer showing buildings, roads, rebuilt areas, etc. from the Great Fire in 1666 up till 1790. It does show the location of Fleet prison one of the first places visited in Charlotte Temple. London also serves as the source of all of the pure influences in Charlotte’s life and when she leaves London she loses all of her purity. It also shows what London looked like when we encounter La Rue on the streets begging. This serves as a small redemption for La Rue and it adds to the idea that London is pure as it has allowed La Rue to see the error of her ways.
