Description

This journal of state trials includes the proceedings for high treason and other crimes and misdemeanors from the years 1726 to 1743. In it, are several mentions of Fleet Prison – the prison in which Mr. Eldridge was held in Charlotte Temple. One particular example includes two separate trials of Thomas Bambridge, a Fleet Prison warden at the time. His charges include the murder of an inmate and a felony for stealing goods. This journal is enlightening in our understanding of the Fleet Prison state of affairs at the time about when Mr. Eldridge would have inhabited it.
