This article explains the story of a man who is wounded and is taken to a hovel to be taken care of. His wounds are taken care of and he ends up falling in love with the widow who takes care of him.
In Charlotte Temple, when Charlotte becomes ill; she is taken care of in a hovel as well. She gives birth to her child before dying, but just like the man who is wounded in The Hovel of the Heath she is taken care of by a caring man. This article enlightens us on the atmosphere of a hovel in the 1800s.
