Description
So I had to find something for the jukejoint but in my mind, I compared the jukejoint to a cabaret. A less "classy" version of a cabaret though. I did try to find something for jukejoint on the American Periodicals but nothing was coming up that really connected to the jukejoint in The Color Purple. The article I found explains what a cabaret is and why it was invented. In a jukejoint, you go to see a singer and maybe even dance and drink a lot and maybe even hve sex with a hooker depending on who is there. In a cabaret, you go to enjoy the show which is usually women dancing and you eat and drink and as my article says "There is by this time so much noise that if your wife telephoned for you you couldn't hear her.". I think that was the similar purpose for the jukejoint in TCP also. So that big connection to me and why I chose this article was because it explained how I felt about both things so I can connect them both.
