Fortifications in the Harbor of New York [description of the Harbor of New York and how the soldiers used it to their advantage]

The exact author was not identified. [After doing research on the database I found out that Hezekiah Niles had written the article in his magazine]

The article that I have found talks about the fortifications of the New York Harbor and how it was built to survive an attack. The article expresses how the harbor was not armed enough if we were to ever have an attack on the harbor. They had troops watch the harbor, but if it were ever attacked, it would end badly for New York. The reason I choose this article was because if the harbor was ever attacked then this would have a direct impact on the soldier (Montraville) and could have changed the outcome of the book. I feel as though this is really important because the harbor was a main port for New York, and after reading the article, you find out it had very little protection.
